How to Point Your Domain to Webfort
If you have a domain registered elsewhere, you can point it to your Webfort hosting by updating the nameservers to those in your welcome email
Step 1: Add Your Domain to cPanel
- Log in to your Webfort cPanel
- Find Addon Domains
- Enter your domain name in the New Domain Name field
- Click Add Domain
- cPanel will create a folder for your domain automatically
Step 2: Update Nameservers at Your Domain Registrar
Log in to wherever you registered your domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, 123-reg, etc.) and update the nameservers.
The process varies by registrar, but generally:
- Go to Domain Management or DNS Settings
- Look for Nameservers or Name Server settings
- Replace the current nameservers with Webfort's nameservers (see above)
- Save changes
Step 3: Wait for DNS Propagation
DNS changes take 24-48 hours to propagate globally. During this time:
- Your domain might still point to the old host
- Some people might see the old site, others the new one
- This is completely normal
Check whatsmydns.net to see when your domain has fully propagated.
Common Issues
Domain still points to old host after 48 hours? Double-check that you entered the nameservers correctly. No extra spaces or characters.
Forgot your registrar login? Check your email for confirmation emails from when you registered the domain.
Your registrar doesn't allow custom nameservers? Some registrars require pointing via A records. Contact our support team and we'll provide the A record values.
