Domain Transfers and Renewals

Learn how to transfer your domain to Webfort or renew your existing domain.

Transferring Your Domain to Webfort

Benefits of Transferring

• Often cheaper than your current registrar

Requirements

• Domain must be at least 60 days old
• Domain not locked at your current registrar
• Authorization/EPP code from your current registrar
• Admin contact email accessible

Transfer Process

1. Log in to your current registrar and unlock your domain
2. Request an Authorization code (EPP code)
3. Go to Cart → Register Domain at Webfort
4. Enter your domain name and click Transfer
5. Enter the authorization code when prompted
6. Complete checkout
7. Confirm the transfer in the email sent to your domain's admin contact
8. Transfer completes within 5-7 days

Renewing Your Domain

With Webfort

1. Log in to your Webfort account
2. Go to Domains → My Domains
3. Click Renew next to your domain
4. Choose renewal period (1-5 years)
5. Complete checkout
6. Renewal is immediate

Tip: Enable auto-renewal to never lose your domain.

Go to My Domains and toggle Auto Renew to the ON position.

With Another Registrar

You can renew with your current registrar even if hosting is with Webfort. Just make sure nameservers point to us (or update your pointing).

Domain Expiration

Here's what happens when your domain is about to expire:

1. 30 days before: Renewal reminder emails sent
2. Expiration date: Domain stops resolving if not renewed
3. Up to 30 days after: Grace period — can renew without penalty
4. 30-90 days after: Redemption period — can renew for a higher fee
5. 90+ days after: Domain becomes available for public registration

Prevent Accidental Expiration

• Enable auto-renewal: Automatic renewal each year
• Update contact info: Make sure renewal emails reach you
• Add backup email: Keep a secondary email on file

Domain Management Settings

In your Webfort control panel, you can:

• Update WHOIS information
• Change nameservers
• Set up domain forwarding
• Enable privacy protection
• Manage DNS records
