How to Change Your Primary Domain Print

  • 0

The primary domain is the main domain associated with your website in the Webfort control panel. You may need to change it if you're rebranding or transferring your site to a new domain name.

Steps to Change Your Primary Domain

  1. Log in to the Webfort control panel and go to Websites.
  2. Select the website you'd like to update.
  3. Click Domains in the top navigation menu.
  4. Click Add domain and add your new domain as an Alias.
  5. Once the page refreshes, find your new domain in the list.
  6. Click the (three-dot) menu next to it and select Make primary.

Your new domain is now set as the primary domain for the website.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • You need to add the new domain as an alias first before it can be promoted to primary.
  • Make sure your new domain's DNS is correctly pointed to your Webfort hosting before making this change.
  • Your old domain will remain as an alias unless you remove it manually.
