ModSecurity is a web application firewall (WAF) that helps protect your website from online threats such as hacking attempts and malicious scripts. It's enabled by default on all Webfort hosting accounts.
In most cases, you should leave ModSecurity enabled. However, there are situations where you may need to temporarily disable it - for example, if it's interfering with a specific application or tool (such as phpMyAdmin).
How to Toggle ModSecurity
- Log in to the Webfort control panel and go to Websites.
- Select the website you'd like to configure.
- Click Security in the top navigation menu.
- Scroll down to the ModSecurity section.
- Toggle ModSecurity on or off as required.
Important: We recommend re-enabling ModSecurity as soon as you've finished any troubleshooting, as it provides an important layer of security for your website.
