An email forwarder automatically sends mail from one address to another — useful if you'd rather read mail for info@yourdomain.com in your existing Gmail or Outlook inbox.
Creating a Forwarder
- Log in to the Webfort control panel and go to Websites.
- Select the website the email address belongs to.
- Click Emails in the top navigation.
- Click Forwarders, then Add Forwarder.
- Enter the source address (e.g.
info@yourdomain.com). - Enter the destination address — where mail should be sent.
- Click Add.
Mail sent to the source address will now be delivered to the destination.
Forwarder vs Mailbox
- A forwarder doesn't store mail — it simply passes it on.
- A mailbox stores mail on our servers and you access it via webmail or a mail client.
- You can combine both: keep a mailbox and also forward a copy elsewhere.
Best Practices
- Ensure DKIM is enabled for your domain to avoid forwarded mail being flagged as spam — see How to Enable DKIM Email Authentication.
- If you want to reply from the forwarded address, you'll also need to create a mailbox and configure your mail client to send as that address.
- Delete forwarders you no longer need.
