Feature lists control which cPanel tools and features your clients can access. You might want basic clients to have a simpler cPanel, while premium clients get everything.
What Are Feature Lists?
A feature list is a set of toggles that show or hide specific cPanel features. For example, you could disable SSH access for basic plans but enable it for developer plans.
Creating a Feature List
- In WHM, go to Packages > Feature Manager.
- In the Add a New Feature List field, type a name (e.g. "Basic Features") and click Add.
- Tick the features you want to enable for this list. Common ones to consider:
- File Manager — almost always enabled.
- Backup / Backup Wizard — lets clients download their own backups.
- SSH Access — disable for non-technical clients.
- Cron Jobs — scheduled tasks, usually safe to enable.
- PHP Version Selector — useful for developers, optional for others.
- Click Save.
Assigning a Feature List to a Package
- Go to Packages > Edit a Package.
- In the Feature List dropdown, select your feature list.
- Click Save Changes.
All accounts on that package will now use the selected feature list.
Tips
- Start with the default feature list and remove things you don't want clients to access.
- Create one list per plan tier to keep things manageable.
- You can change feature lists at any time without affecting client data.
