A few practical tips to help you get the most out of your reseller hosting account.
Start Simple
You don't need to set up everything on day one. Create 2 or 3 hosting packages, get your first client set up, and expand from there. You can always add more packages and features later.
Back Up Regularly
Webfort takes server-level backups, but you should also encourage your clients to keep their own backups via cPanel's Backup Wizard. If you're managing client sites, download periodic backups yourself using WHM's Backup Configuration tool.
Monitor Your Resource Usage
Keep an eye on your overall disk space and bandwidth usage in WHM under Server Information > Server Status. If you're approaching your plan limits, consider upgrading your reseller plan before it affects your clients.
Keep Client Accounts Organised
- Use consistent usernames (e.g. the client's company name, shortened).
- Add a contact email to every account so you can reach clients if needed.
- Suspend rather than delete accounts when clients leave, at least temporarily, in case they want their data back.
Set Expectations with Your Clients
Be clear about what's included in your hosting and what isn't. Common things to clarify upfront:
- Do you provide WordPress updates and maintenance, or just hosting?
- What's your support response time?
- Are backups included, and how often?
